How do I contact somebody about their cart?

Tap Contact Seller on the listing, fill in four short boxes, and your message goes straight to them by email.

Why is there no phone number on the listing?

Because the seller's number is never published, on any listing, ever.

These are people's home phone numbers. Putting them on a public page means every scammer and every robocaller in the country has them within a week, and then the seller stops answering — which helps nobody, least of all you.

You are not being kept away from them. Your message goes straight through, with your own email and phone in it, and they reply to you directly. After that first message the two of you are talking without us in the middle.

The steps

  1. Tap Contact Seller.
  2. Put in your name — the seller wants to know who is asking.
  3. Put in your email. This is how they reply, so check it for typos.
  4. Your phone is optional. Add it if you would rather be called than emailed. Plenty of sellers will just ring you.
  5. Write a line or two. "Is it still available? Could I come and see it this week?" is a perfectly good message.
  6. Send it.

What happens to my details?

We pass them to the seller and then delete them. We do not keep your name, your email, your phone number or what you wrote, and we will never email you about anything else.

The seller has them, because they need them to answer you. We do not.

How long until I hear back?

That is up to the seller — these are private individuals, not a shop. Most people reply the same day.

If you have not heard in a day and it is urgent, send one more. After that, they have probably sold it or gone away for a fortnight.

It says the cart is no longer taking messages

It has been marked sold or taken down since you opened the page. Refresh and you will usually find it says sold.

It says that has already gone through

You have sent a message to this cart very recently. Give the seller a moment to read the first one.

Can I see more photos?

Every photo the listing can show is on the listing page — up to 8, and on many premium and dealer listings a video walkaround as well. If you want a picture of something specific, ask them in your message. Most people are happy to go out to the garage and take one.

Still stuck?

If the form will not send, it will tell you on the page rather than leaving you guessing. Try once more — what you wrote stays on the screen.
