How do I sign in to my carts?

You do not need to sign in to list a cart — the form at VillagesGolfCartSales.com/sell is open to everyone, and posting it signs you in on that phone or computer. Signing in is for coming back from somewhere else. There is no password.

The steps

  1. Use the link in the email we sent when your cart went live — it signs you straight in. Or go to VillagesGolfCartSales.com/sell/manage.
  2. Type your email address and tap Send me the link.
  3. Open your email. The message is called "Your sign-in link".
  4. Tap the link in it. A page opens with one button, Manage my carts — tap it and you are in.

Why the button? Some email programs check every link in a message before you see it, and in the past that used the link up. Now opening the link does nothing until you tap the button, so the link is still good when you get to it.

If you start a new listing with an email you have used before, we save the cart to your account and send you this link instead of signing you in on the spot — so nobody else can open your carts by typing your address.

Thirty minutes, and it works once.

Both of those are on purpose. A link that lasts forever is a key to your listing sitting in your inbox, and email gets forwarded, printed and left open on shared computers. Thirty minutes is long enough to walk to the kitchen table and open your laptop.

Once you have used it, you stay signed in on that device for 30 days, so coming back to change your price or add a photo does not mean starting again.

Ask for another one — that always works, and there is no limit worth worrying about.

This usually happens for a reason that is nobody's fault: some email programs and security scanners open every link in a message before you ever see it, which uses the link up. It can also happen if you tapped it twice.

Same answer: type your email again and we will send a fresh one. Expired only means more than thirty minutes have passed.

Nothing arrived

  1. Give it a minute. It is usually faster, but not always.
  2. Look in junk, spam or promotions. This is where it goes nine times out of ten.
  3. Check the address you typed for a typo — one wrong letter and it went to somebody else's inbox.
  4. Ask for another link.

Why an email and not a text message?

Text messages are coming. The service that sends them is still being approved, and rather than make you wait for that, sign-in works by email today. Nothing you do now has to be redone when texting arrives — your listing and your account stay exactly as they are.

We still ask for your mobile number when you list your cart, because your number is how we know it is you, and because it is how we reach you quickly if something is wrong with your listing.

Is my email address shown on my listing?

No. Neither is your phone number. Buyers reach you through a form on your listing, and their message comes to you by email with their own name, email and phone in it. You decide who to reply to and who to call back.

Nothing about you is published except your first name and where you said the cart is.

I signed in but on the wrong device

Sign in again on the right one. Each device has its own sign-in, so being signed in on your phone does not sign you in on your computer, and vice versa.

Still stuck?

Ask for one more link, and if it still will not arrive, the address is very likely the problem — try a different one. Anything you started is saved against your account, not against the link, so nothing is lost.
