Why does my street-legal listing ask for a VIN?

Because "street legal" means the cart is titled and registered as an LSV, and the VIN is how a buyer checks that — so we ask for it before that listing goes live.

What we need

  1. Tick "Street legal (LSV)" only if your cart is actually titled and registered as a Low Speed Vehicle. A cart that's fast, or lifted, or has lights and mirrors, is not street legal on its own.
  2. Enter the VIN. It's on your registration, and on the cart itself — look for a metal plate or stamped number under the glovebox or along the frame rail on the driver's side.
  3. Tick the confirmation box to say the cart is titled and registered as an LSV. That's you telling the buyer it's true, so only tick it if it is.

Your listing publishes as normal once those are in.

List it as Stock or Lifted instead. It reaches exactly the same buyers — cart type is a filter, not a ranking, and nothing about your listing is hidden or pushed down because of it.

Why we're strict about this

Buyers pay more for a street-legal cart because it can be driven places others can't. If that claim isn't backed up, the buyer finds out after the money has changed hands. Asking for two things up front keeps that from happening to anyone on this site.

Can I add the VIN later?

Yes. Edit your listing, add the VIN and tick the box, and it publishes. Until then it stays as a draft — nothing is lost.

Still stuck?

If your cart is titled and registered but you can't find the VIN on it, the number on your registration paperwork is the same one, and that's fine to use. If you're not sure whether your cart is registered as an LSV, your registration will say so — and if it doesn't say LSV, list it as Lifted or Stock.
