How do I add photos to my listing?

Tap Add a photo and pick pictures from your phone. How many depends on your listing, and the photo step tells you before you start:

Why can I only add 4?

Your listing is going up as a basic listing, which shows up to 4 photos. Premium listings can show up to 8 photos and a video walkaround. Once you have 4, the Add a photo button goes away; remove one to add a different one.

Some of my photos say "Not shown"

Your cart is now going up as a basic listing — for example, the last free premium spot went while you were adding photos — so it will show only the first 4. Nothing has been deleted. The others are kept safe and come back if the listing is ever premium. To choose which 4 show, move them to the top with the up buttons.

Can I change my photos after my cart is up?

Yes. Go to /sell/manage, find the cart and tap Change the photos and video. Add, remove or reorder them there, and each change is on your listing straight away.

A new photo is checked before it goes up, the same as when you first listed. A live listing always keeps its minimum — 1 photo for basic, 3 for premium and dealer — so to swap your last few, add the new one first, then remove the old one.

My listing went from premium to basic — where are my photos?

Still there. A basic listing shows the first 4 photos and no video; the rest are kept, and they all come back if it is premium again. Nothing is ever deleted because of this.

Which photos to take

Three shots sell a cart, and they are the three we ask for:

  1. The whole cart from the side. This is the one that goes on your card.
  2. The front, three-quarters on. Shows the stance and the wheels.
  3. The seats. The first thing anybody asks about.

After that, anything you are proud of: the wheels, the dash, the enclosure, the back seat folded down.

Shots are taken parked, not moving. It is a rule here, and it is also just better advice — a stopped cart gives a sharper picture.

Do I need to crop or straighten them?

No. We do all of that. Whatever comes off your phone is fine.

Every photo is straightened, trimmed to the same shape as every other listing, and resized. That shared shape is why the site looks like a catalogue instead of a noticeboard, and it means your cart sits beside a dealer's and holds its own.

We trim evenly from both ends — the top and the bottom of a tall photo, or both sides of a wide one — so the cart stays in the middle of the picture. If the whole cart cannot fit, the body, wheels and ground come first: a little off the roof is fine; a cart floating with no ground under it is not. See why part of my cart is cut off.

Does my address travel with the picture?

No. We remove that before the photo is stored.

Every phone quietly writes the location into a photo when you take it. If you photograph your cart on your own driveway, that file knows where your driveway is — and on most websites, anybody who downloads the picture can read it.

We strip that out, along with everything else your phone attached, the moment the photo arrives. What gets stored is a clean picture and nothing else.

The first photo is the important one

The photo at the top is your card photo — the one buyers see in the feed. The colour of your listing card is taken from it too.

To change which one is first, use the up and down buttons under each photo. There is no dragging: buttons work better with a fingertip, and they do not fight the page when you are trying to scroll.

One photo would not upload

It will say so under that photo, with a Try again button. Only that one is affected — everything else you have added is safe, and so is everything you typed.

Tap Try again. If it still will not go, tap Remove and use a different picture.

"That picture is too small to fill a card"

The picture is below the size we can print on a card without it going soft. This almost always means it is a screenshot, or a photo that was saved out of a text message or Facebook — both of those shrink the picture.

Take a fresh photo with your camera instead and it will be fine.

"We could not open that picture"

Whatever you picked is not a photo we can read. Screenshots of a video, downloaded files and pictures from some older phones can all do this. Take a new photo and it will work.

Can I use photos from my iPhone?

Yes. iPhones save photos in their own format and we handle it — you do not need to change any setting or convert anything first.

Can I change the photos after I post?

Yes. Sign in again and you can add, remove and reorder them whenever you like.

Still stuck?

Add the three you have, post the listing, and come back to the rest later. A listing with three good photos is live and working for you; a perfect one you never finish is not.
