How do I list my cart?

Fill in one form, add your photos, and post it. It goes live straight away. Private sellers list free — nothing to pay, ever.

Before you start

Have three photos ready — from the side, from the front, and one of the seats. A basic listing needs just one and shows up to 4; a premium or dealer listing needs 3 and shows up to 8, plus a video walkaround if you have one. They come straight off your phone, so you do not need anything special.

You do not need the title in front of you unless your cart is street legal.

The steps

  1. Go to VillagesGolfCartSales.com/sell. The form is right there — there is nothing to sign in to first. Start with your email; it is how you get back to your cart, and it is never shown.
  2. Fill in the form. It is one page, not a series of screens, so you can see how much is left at any point.
  3. Add your photos.
  4. Look over how your listing will appear.
  5. Post it.

You can stop partway through and come back. Everything you have typed is saved against your account, not against the link — see picking up where you left off.

What we ask for, and why

Your first name and mobile number. The first name is the only part of your name that ever appears anywhere. The number is never shown — see below.

Your street address — optional. It is kept privately on your account and never shown on the site. (A registered dealer's address is the exception: it is their business address, and it appears on their listing page. Their cards still show only the town.) Leaving the box empty later never erases one you saved.

Year, make, seats, gas or electric. These are what a buyer filters on. A listing without them is one nobody finds.

Model is optional. If you are not sure what yours is, leave it blank — that is better than a guess. A blank model shows nothing at all on your listing; it does not say "Unknown" and it does not leave a gap. Your card reads "2022 ICON" and looks exactly as deliberate as it is.

Price. Required, and shown large. Hiding the price does not get you more calls; it gets you fewer.

Type it however you like — `$4,500`, `4500` and `4.5k` all work. Whole dollars. The lowest we can list is $100 and the highest is $100,000.

Where the cart is. Just your village, neighborhood or town — never your street address. There is no dropdown and we do not guess — we publish exactly what you type. "Fenney", "near Brownwood", "Oxford, FL".

If you type a house number and street ("4072 Thomas Street") or a PO box, the box asks which town, village or neighborhood the cart is in instead. This box is shown on your listing, and a street address on a public page tells the whole internet where your cart is parked.

As you type, we offer a few village names underneath, the way your phone suggests words. Tap one if it fits, or ignore them completely. They are only there to save you typing.

If your cart is not in The Villages, just type where it is — Wildwood, Summerfield, Oxford, anywhere. You will not see suggestions for those and that is fine; nothing about the form expects you to pick from a list.

Sections are listed under their own name. Look for Lakeshore Cottages, not "Bridgeport at Lakeshore Cottages" — the village underneath is only there to tell two similar names apart, and it is never added to what you typed. If you type Bridgeport, every section in it comes up as well.

ZIP code. So the cart shows up for the right town.

What is optional

Themes — College, Pro sports, Hot rod, Classic body. Tick every one that fits. A '57 Chevy body can be both Hot rod and Classic body, and your listing shows up under each. It is never posted twice.

What comes with it, and what is available separately. This is for the "sells with the custom wheels, stock wheels available for $400" case — one listing with an option on it, not two posts.

The story. One box, and the prompt is just Tell us about this one. It appears on your listing page only — never on the card in the feed. The card is the headline; the story is what is waiting when the headline works.

Only tick this if the cart is titled and registered as an LSV. A cart that is merely fast is not street legal, and saying so when it is not causes a real problem for whoever buys it.

If you tick it, we need the VIN — 17 characters, on the title and usually on a plate on the frame. A VIN never contains the letters I, O or Q; where you think you see those, they are ones and zeros.

Cannot find it right now? Leave street legal set to no, post the listing, and add it later. Nothing is lost.

Will my phone number be on the listing?

No. Neither is your email.

A buyer sees a Contact Seller button. They fill in a short form with their name, their email, their phone if they want to give it, and their message. That comes to you by email with their details in it, and you reply straight from there.

You decide who to call back. After that first message the two of you deal with each other directly — we are not in the middle of it.

How long does my listing run?

30 days at a time, free, for as long as you are selling. If it goes up featured, it stays in the top spots for 30 days, then moves to the regular listings on its own. Every 30 days we email to ask if it is still for sale — one tap keeps it up. See how long your listing stays up.

Can I change it after I post it?

Yes — price, photos, the description, any of it. The email we send when it goes live has a link that signs you straight in; after that, go to your carts for a fresh one. You can also mark it sold in one tap, which takes the Contact Seller button off it.

My village is not in the suggestions

Type it anyway — it will publish exactly as you write it.

The list came from a 2021 list of villages and The Villages has kept building since, so it is incomplete on purpose. Nothing is blocked by a name being missing. If you would like it added for next time, tell us and we will put it in.

It asks "Which make is it?"

Before your cart goes up, we look over the photos. If the badge on the cart reads as one make and you typed another, we ask once — for example: "The photos look like a Yamaha — is Street Rod right?"

  1. If you typed it wrong, tap Change the details, fix the make, and carry on.
  2. If what you typed is right — a custom body on another maker's frame, say — tap Yes, that is right, or Skip this.

It never stops your listing. Your cart goes up exactly as you wrote it whichever you choose, and we do not ask again. Make is what buyers search by, which is the only reason we ask at all.

My phone does not offer to fill in the cart boxes

That is on purpose — see picking up where you left off. Everything about your cart is only ever what you type.

It says my price is too low

Below $100 we do not list a cart in the main feed. If the cart really is worth less than that — a roller, a dead pack, a project — it belongs in Project Carts rather than alongside running carts.

It says that mobile number is already set up with a different email

Your number is how we know it is you, so it can only belong to one account. That message means you have signed in before with a different email address.

Sign in with that address instead and everything you had will be there. If you are not sure which one it was, try the one you used at the home show.

It opens in a new tab and your answers are kept. Nothing you have typed is lost.

The help page will tell you so, and offer to close this tab — closing it puts you straight back on your form, exactly where you left it, with everything still filled in. If your browser will not let the page close itself, close the tab the way you normally would; your form is waiting either way.

Still stuck?

Save what you have — it stays in your account — and come back to it. If a field will not accept something you know is right, tell us what you typed and what it said, and we will sort it out.
